- Can recognize and report changes in animal health or behaviour
- Are comfortable administering medications as directed
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Have strong time-management, organization and record-keeping skills
- Can work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment
- Communicate professionally with team members, volunteers and the public
- Are comfortable with cleaning, animal waste, unpleasant odours, noise and the physical realities of shelter work
- Have no animal allergies that would prevent you from safely performing the position
- Are physically able to stand for extended periods, bend, reach overhead and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted or 75 lbs with assistance
- Are available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
Experience in an animal shelter, rescue, veterinary clinic, animal control, boarding facility or similar animal-care environment is considered an asset, along with knowledge of feline behaviour, animal welfare and basic computer programs.
